February 7, 1791: Rensselaer County is established by the State Legislature of New York. From 1791-1812 the towns of Petersburg, Greenbush, Schodack, Berlin, Nassau, Brunswick, Grafton, and Sand Lake are established throughout the county. Stephentown was chartered in 1788 and Lansingburgh in 1790.

February 8, 1816: Richard P. Hart and Betsey Amelia Howard, daughter of William and Rebecca Howard, are married. Their home, the marble house at 59 2nd Street, was completed in 1827 and has been the location of the Hart Cluett Museum since 1948.
